As part of our 20-year celebration, students, families, guides and alumni are sharing their Montessori story to highlight the impact of Starwood Schools education. Ms. Maria (retired Primary Guide) was one of the very first guides hired by Ms. Hanks when the school opened 20 years ago. This is her story:
Do you have a favorite “Montessori Moment” from over the years?
One of my favorite moments in the multi-age Montessori Classroom is when I saw the older students help teach the younger students.
What made Starwood Schools special to you as an educator?
Starwood Schools always helped and encouraged us as educators to grow and keep learning new skills to improve in all areas.
What was your favorite part of Montessori philosophy while teaching?
My favorite Montessori philosophy is based on supporting the complete development of the child and a lifelong love for learning.
How would you describe the community at Starwood Schools? What does it mean to you to have been a part of it?
Starwood Schools is a vibrant and respectful community where everyone has always been helpful and supportive. I have enjoyed my time with Starwood and have grown and learned a lot as an educator.
Thank you to Ms. Maria and our entire school community for your long-lasting support for our schools!
